I stood at the edge of the room, scanning the large area. It was rapidly filling up, guests, staff, and employees circulating. Trays of champagne were being carried, glasses lifted off by well-dressed invitees. Large centerpieces of flowers perfumed the air, the scent heavy in the room. I recognized a few people, greeting Sofia’s coworkers with a dip of my chin and the occasional handshake. I wasn’t there to mingle, but do a job—as easy as this one was.

Then she walked in, and the room faded away. When she paused in the doorway, our eyes met across the room, and my focus narrowed in. I saw only her. Only her sensual beauty.

She wore a deep green dress that looked stunning against her skin. The skirt ended mid-calf, the luminous material glowing in the lights, the high heels on her feet making her legs seem endless. The bodice dipped low, the swells of her breasts visible. Her long hair was swept up in a knot at the base of her neck, showing off the delicate column of her throat. Wisps hung around her face. She wore more makeup than usual, making her eyes seem larger in her face, her lips glistening and inviting. The shawl she wore slipped, and I spied the slope of her bare shoulder. I knew how that skin tasted under my lips. How soft it was. She was artlessly sexy, while still being elegant and classy.

Despite having had her only a couple of hours ago, I felt my cock stiffen, and I had to turn away, breaking our eye contact. I made another sweep of the room, walking slowly, making my way toward her. I stopped when I reached her side, standing and observing the crowd.

“You take my breath away, iubirea mea. You are beyond exquisite.”

“I’m glad you think so,” she responded.

“So does every other man watching you.”

She laughed softly, shaking her head as a waiter offered her champagne. “I think you are a little biased.”

Her coworker Sally came over, handing Sofia a glass. “Iced tea,” she said. “Looks like we’re drinking, but we’re not.”

I smiled at her and tilted my head in acknowledgment.

“You clean up well, Egan.”

I threw her a fast wink, and she laughed.

“We need to mingle, Sofia.”

Sofia looked at me and I nodded. “Go enjoy your evening. I’ll be watching.”

I felt the brush of her hand over my back as she moved away. “I know.”

The dinner and the speeches were over. People were dancing, some still perusing the auction items. It would close in about an hour, then there would be more dancing for some, and for others, it would be the time to depart. As Sofia claimed, it was fairly dull, but the keynote speaker had been interesting and passionate, and I planned on donating some money to the cause of the evening. Funds were being raised to upgrade the pediatric oncology area of the hospital. As the speaker claimed, the area gave the kids a chance to escape from their treatments. They unveiled the plans, and I wanted to help make sure they achieved their goal.
